Have A Very Happy Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Halloween

Forget Bobby "Boris" Pickett's version. Here's the real deal:

Neil Innes is the greatest spoof musician in the history of the universe. Weird Al should be cleaning his pool while Spike Mulligan mows the lawn.

Be sure to watch their tribute to "The Sound of Music" at the end. I'm not sure, but I don't think they liked it all that much. Maybe it's just me. But we watched it on TV every year when I was a kid, and I always rooted for the Nazis, hoping to stop the singing.

You could've rooted for the nuns to impose a vow of silence and thereby not sided with the fascists but achieve your silent ends.

Thanks for posting this. I've been a fan of the Bonzos since the early 70's, and never saw this clip. Did you know they're doing a reunion tour in the UK this month? WAY sold out, of course. And minus the irreplaceable Mr. Stanshall, sad to say.

I mentioned this song and the Bonzo's version in something I wrote 3 years ago, and it gets new comments every Halloween:

Ten Halloween Songs That Aren't As Lame As "The Monster Mash"

(The moral is, if you want to get Comments, write a Top Ten (or Twenty or 100) List on some Subject and wait for the swarms to add to, edit and improve your own suggestions with varying degrees of civility.)

I like your page there. Lots of interesting stuff strewn around.

Screamin' Jay Hawkins is the real deal. Good call there. Best of Halloween show.
I don't care if you don't want me--I'M YOURS.

And I like the Fripp. Tubular Bells is a good selection too. Nicely played, sir.
