Real blues.
DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14474631.post-75410242557885264892014-01-24T09:51:07.622-05:002014-01-24T09:51:07.622-05:00Back in my playing days I looked down on these sho...Back in my playing days I looked down on these show bands too. Just a sour grapes attitude because I wasn't that good. Or reliable. Heck, I can't even read music, after playing twenty years. Hmph, sheet music was for squares.

I like that phrase, Mal, make a living. Journeyman musicians like those will work three hunnert days a year and put out the same sound each time. Me, I spent a lot of time in somebody's basement or schlepping my gear from a Moose hall to the VFW, twenty five bucks and free beer. Oh boy, fame.chasmatichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14962911972107586613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14474631.post-75302200315306126442014-01-23T18:40:52.625-05:002014-01-23T18:40:52.625-05:00"You have to be a really good bassist, guitar..."You have to be a really good bassist, guitar player, or drummer to play like that. And all it gets you is a better class of Chinese restaurants or lounges on cruise ships to play at, generally."
True. Very true, sir. But at least they're workin', right?
As a callow young feller, I used to turn my nose up at that stuff, until I eventually noticed that those buggers can play!
It kills me that so many REALLY good musicians and entertainers never get the attention they deserve.
The old phrase, "making a living; not a killing" applies more often than not.Malhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07220588171793490407noreply@blogger.com
