If The Folks Will Have Me, Then They'll Have Me

But they won't.

I live in a world of my own making, and always have. I have joined and tried and bent myself to the will of little men in order to get along, but I can't do it anymore. I say nothing and nod but if you asked me a question, direct, I'd have to answer it truthfully -- brutally, maybe; but you never ask me anything. You tell me things, and one in a million of them are of interest to me, but not the kind of interest I bet you're looking for.

Everyone thinks they're better than everyone else, and the worse a person is, the higher the regard they have for their own crabby worldview. I don't have an opinion of myself any longer. I'm just a mirror I hold up to the world, and the world puts me in a closet rather than look upon itself.

But a mirror's power doesn't wane because you don't look at it.

Has The Spare done anything with that typewriter, yet?

That's a good video. Once again, your kids, as you know, are awesome. You are fortunate.

I love Sam L. Just do.

The typewriter is displayed in our foyer, the first thing you see when you walk in our door. The Spare Heir writes a blog every day, and so does his big brother.

Thanks anon- I am indeed a fortunate man in everything that really matters.

That video is a defiant statement about the beauty and goodness of the life you have built for yourself, far from the crowds of "normal people".
You know, but I'll remind you, that the volume of your admirers doesn't matter, it's their quality.
The majority of my conversations likewise illustrate the principle that most people who would require an explanation would probably never understand it anyway.
So we explain not to bring understanding but to see who understands.
CA. greetings to alla youse

By which I mean to say: I understand. If it was luck I'd tell you how lucky you are.

Thanks for the rerun. The best to you and yours.

I take it the blog is just for the family. Those old typewriters (I got my Granddad's 1923 Underwood) just don't hook up to the Intertunnels.

very nice.

But um...: aren't you supposed to be finishing a series on raising the house?

DoHS no longer. We just graduated the last one.

My uncle Letsgo Lozko told me: If you like everybody you meet you're not meeting enough people."

Of course, uncle Letsgo, he didn't mention that I could improve my chances of finding people I liked by coming to this site. He raised bantam chickens, what does he know?

Hoping not to wreck the "quality" curve by being an admirer, but what can I do about it?
