My mother would have been 17 years old, and probably standing somewhere in that crowd. The shots of the Krewe of Rex show the parade in front of old city hall, right across from Lafayette Sqaure, on St. Charles Avenue, headed for Canal Street (about six blocks away). I hadn't heard of the Krewe of Nor (children's parade) in years; it was long gone by the time I was old enough to watch Mardi Gras parades in the 1950s.
Glynn- A marvelous remembrance. The parade is the poorer without the Krewe of Nor.
